Moldflow Corporation (NASDAQ: MFLO), Framingham, Mass., a provider
of plastics simulation software that empowers more users to optimize
more designs across their enterprise, has launched Moldflow Plastics
Advisers (MPA) 8.1, the easy-to-use plastics simulation software that
allows part and mold designers to quickly evaluate the manufacturability
of their designs so they can achieve the highest quality at the lowest
cost in the shortest time to market.
MPA 8.1 delivers new technologies and key enhancements to help
users analyze a broader range of parts with true 3D technology, improve
productivity with a redesigned user interface, shorten analysis
preparation time with powerful and flexible modeling tools, interpret
results more efficiently using new results visualization options, and
increase collaboration with expanded communication capabilities. MPA 8.1
features true 3D analysis capability for the simulation of parts with
thick, solid regions or variations in wall thickness. Based on
Moldflow's market-leading Moldflow Plastics Insight (MPI)
technology, the 3D functionality now available in MPA raises the bar for
accessibility and ease-of-use. As plastics part geometry becomes
increasingly more complex, the 3D technology in MPA allows customers to
predict and avoid manufacturing defects before a mold is ever made,
saving them costly and time-consuming production delays.
Other key benefits of MPA 8.1 include the following:
Productivity Improvements - A new panel-based user interface
streamlines workflow, provides uninterrupted access to models, and
increases overall user productivity. New project management capabilities
and customizable workspace options allow task-specific user interface
configurations to be saved and shared among various stakeholders across
the enterprise. Powerful and Flexible Modeling Tools Runner and cooling
channel layouts can be quickly and easily imported from CAD systems or
created using new modeling planes, snap tools, and visual cues to aid in
precise positioning.
Intuitive Results Interpretation - New results visualization
options allow for the comparison of results from multiple analysis
iterations to realize design improvements and better understand plastics
material behavior. New Dynamic Help functionality allows users to
quickly understand those results that have the greatest impact on
optimizing their part and mold designs.
Increased Collaboration - Enhanced report generation capabilities
make it possible to automatically generate reports in Microsoft Word or
PowerPoint formats in addition to HTML, to easily communicate valuable
analysis results across the enterprise.
Smart Tools - New and enhanced tools include a redesigned Cost
Adviser for detailed part cost analysis and better planning; a new Job
Manager that allows users to take maximum advantage of available CPU
resources and free engineers for other tasks; and a tool for comparing
material properties to aid in selecting the best material for a given
application.
