The Pennsylvania State University will be hosting and celebrating its 50th Mushroom Short Course June 8-10, 2008 at the Nittany Lion Inn, State College, PA. This year's Short Course is a milestone for the mushroom farm community and has been a premier annual event since 1956. Programs through the years have contributed to the growth and profitability of mushroom growers all over North America.

This year Penn State will review the history of the Short Course but focus on the future of the mushroom industry with hands-on grower activities and learning sessions. Speakers and panelist from academia and the industry will conduct workshop sessions reviewing basic grower information. These sessions will be designed for mid-management supervisor and growers who want to strengthen their background on the science of mushroom growing. The Short Course will also provide an opportunity for growers to discuss crop management with other growers, gaining new ideas and concepts to take back to their own farms.
