VWR acquires Hungarian distributor.

West Chester, PA 8/4/08 -- VWR International has acquired Spektrum-3D Kft, a laboratory supply distributor based in Debrecen, Hungary. Financial terms were not disclosed. The company's products include chemicals, consumables, furniture, equipment and instruments. "This acquisition demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the Central and Eastern European markets and our intention to expand our product and service offerings globally," commented Manuel Brocke- Benz, VWR senior vice president and managing director of European Operations. "VWR started penetrating these markets a number of years ago through our export operations but have successfully developed a local supply chain in recent years to provide improved service to our valued customers."

Spektrum was established in 1991 and has approximately HUF 2 billion ($13.5 million) in annual sales and 54 employees, according to the website Portfolio.hu. The acquisition continues VWR's recent pattern of buying European distributors. In the last year, the company has purchased three such companies.
