CONSETT conceded a three-goal lead on Sunday - but they made no
mistake in last night's FA Cup preliminary round replay against
Bishop Auckland at Belle Vue Park.
Again, the Steelmen went three goals up, but on this occasion
Bishops managed just one in reply from Gavin Barton.
Consett made a dream start, scoring twice in the first 10 minutes
through Mattie Moffatt's penalty and a Steve Johnson strike.
On the stroke of half-time, Moffatt was on target with his
side's third goal and, after Bishops responded.
Johnson hit his second goal of the night in stoppage time to make
the finals score 4-1.
CROOK Town won 3-0, comfortably defeating Armthorpe Welfare at the
Millfield Ground with strikes from Matthew Coad, Darren Kokes and Dan
Olsogua.
SPENNYMOOR retained the leadership of the Skilltrainingltd Northern
League First Division when a late penalty from Karl Richards earned them
a point against third-placed West Allotment Celtic in a 2-2 draw.
Chris Smith fired Moors in front and, after Keith Douglas reduced
the arrears, Tom Vickers put Celtic in front for the first time 12
minutes from the end.
NEWCASTLE Benfield Bay Plastics moved into fourth place, easily
overcoming Seaham Red Star 3-0.
Their hero was Scott Emmerson, who celebrated his return from
suspension with a hat-trick.
CHESTER-le-Street claimed their first point of the season in a 1-1
draw at Northallerton Town, who were first to score courtesy of Stephen
Roberts.
Danny Craggs levelled midway through the second period.
IN the only Division Two game played, Whitehaven strengthened their
grip at the top, winning 1-0 at Brandon United with an 85th-minute goal
by Stuart Shaw.
