On June 17, the Board of United Business Media (UBM; London) said that discussions with Informa Group (London) regarding an all-share merger have ceased. UBM said it had been in discussions with Informa beginning "several weeks prior" to a June 8 announcement confirming that the discussions were taking place. The company remains of the view that a merged company could "deliver significant benefits to both UBM and Informa shareholders (and) provide enhanced services to its customers" but it has been unable to "agree to terms with Informa that would be in the best interests of UBM shareholders." The company said it reserves the right to make or participate in an offer or possible offer for Informa within the next six months.
