Triclosan.
by Eisberg, Neil
Antibacterial agent triclosan is back in the spotlight with claims
by the US not-for-profit research organisation Environmental Working
Group (EWG) that while the US Environmental protection Agency (EPA) is
currently reviewing its health and safety data, the process is
'plagued with data gaps and inconsistencies'. The EWG says its
recently published study finds 'no evidence that triclosan's
widespread use gives consumers the increased germ-killing benefits the
products promise'.
