This could give "take one for the team" a new definition.
Funds raised during the World Xtreme Boxing Challenge (WXBC) will
benefit local charities in Des Moines, Iowa. The WXBC pits eight
participants in a day-long tournament of mixed martial arts (MMA), a
sport known for its blood and savagery.
Fighting For A Better World, the charity division of DH Global,
Boxing Promotions, plans to donate $25,000 to the Des Moines Area
Religious Council Food Pantries (DMARC) and the City of Des Moines
Community Services Division. The two charities were chosen since the
inaugural tournament will be at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines on
Aug. 29 and the area suffered through major flooding this past spring.
Fighting For A Better World officials said the organization will
donate funds from each future World Xtreme Boxing Challenge to a select
charity or cause, raising money through the community, sponsors and
advertisers.
