This week, Heifer International has announced it will cut 20 percent of its U.S. work force, which will undoubtedly hurt many of the 240 employees at the Little Rock headquarters.
As of press time, the nonprofit was scheduled to hold the grand opening of its Heifer Village, an education facility that will inform visitors about Heifer's mission of fighting global poverty, on Friday and throughout the weekend.
As Arkansas Business reported last July, Heifer's fundraising has suffered, especially donations for the village
The ironic thing is that Heifer employees have been asked to work the opening, with some referring to it as being "voluntold."
