You may not know it, but you're in sales. In fact, we're all in sales, says popular author Dan Pink in an interview with Behind the Brand host Bryan Elliott. "We have this notion that salespeople have disappeared because of the internet," say Pink. "It's not true." While one-in-nine American workers holds a traditional sales position, he says the remaining eight-in-nine spend huge amounts of their time influencing others and selling their ideas. What's more, he says being a good salesperson in the information age requires better listening skills, clarity of ideas and more expertise. Because the internet enables customers to research the basics, Pink believes businesses should leverage their in-depth knowledge to better serve them.
