Rajan Anandan, Vice President, South East Asia and India, Google, touched upon topics of data usage and the changing dynamics of startup landscape in India.

The most transformational change for Indians will be the next 300 million - 700 million users. Reliance Jio has changed the landscape completely, he said. Rajan stressed on the dearth need of pervasive high speed wifi data.

"About 400 mln women live in rural India but only 10 mln access the internet - Google has committed to bringing ground level activation in rural India," he said.

Sees Digital Innovation in fintech

Rajan said that the first sector where India will see innovation is actually digital payments. "I am confident in 5 years India will have the best digital services in the world," he said.

Talking about solving real problem Rajan said that so far the country has only focussed on tech-focussed businesses. "We are launching on - demand laundry but not enough start-ups working on solving the problem of air pollution," he adds.

Rajan believes that given the situation today, Indian entrepreneurs have tremendous opportunities in hand. He advised entrepreneurs to not start a company thinking solely about funding.

Rajan Anandan bats for better regulation for India

"Regulation can really be enablers. Why India cannot have drones is where will we fly them. We need to make drone access areas. Indian government must concentrate on regulation instead of concentrating on the PPP model of growth," Rajan said.
