South Jersey Industries (SJI) came out with a quarterly loss of $0.17 per share versus the Zacks Consensus Estimate of a loss of $0.19. This compares to loss of $0.06 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items.

This quarterly report represents an earnings surprise of 10.53%. A quarter ago, it was expected that this energy services holding company would post a loss of $0.01 per share when it actually produced earnings of $0.02, delivering a surprise of 300%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has surpassed consensus EPS estimates four times.

South Jersey Industries, which belongs to the Zacks Utility - Gas Distribution industry, posted revenues of $365.63 million for the quarter ended September 2021, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 27.41%.
