At my house, after the dishes were cleared from the Thanksgivingtable and the visiting relatives went home, my brother and I wouldcrash on the couch and watch TV. The Schran family does things alittle differently. After their Thanksgiving feast in 1998,brothers Adam and Andrew, then 22 and 11, sat together and sketchedout their plans for a software development company. They launchedit two months later.
Philadelphia-based Ascentive LLC develops downloadableperformance utility software that does everything from protectingprivacy to synching your computer's clock with the atomic clockused by the federal government. All products are developed in-houseand sold through the company's Web site, www.ascentive.com.
