Cottman Transmission Systems Inc. in Ft. ,, has found a unique way to inspirefranchisor-franchisee relationships. For the past 10 years, thehome office staff at Cottman has thrown on the saddle bags, hookedup with willing owners and headed off into the wild blueyonder on a motorcycle trip.

Part of an outbound experience that's different each year,the trip covers several thousand miles during the course of a weekor more, with activities that have included whitewater canoeing andvisiting hot springs mineral baths. Participants tend to be fromthe most successful , which Jim Corkran, co-owner andvice president of operations at Cottman, attributes to theirrisk-taking personalities. "The folks who join us onthese trips are top performers," he says. "We welcome anyfranchisee, but these highly competitive folks like to do thingsthat are strenuous and a little risky."
