Indiana Legislature Approves Registration By Notification

Indianapolis-The Indiana legislature has sent a bill tothe governor for signing that eliminates the review component ofthe franchise registration process and establishes registration bynotification for the attempted sale of a franchise. The billprovides that a franchisor complete a notification form, provide adisclosure document and pay a filing fee. Registration would beeffective upon receipt of the notification information. During theone-year registration, a franchisor is not required to provide anysupplemental information, including any routine amendments to thedisclosure document. The bill also increases, from five to 10years, the time period which a person must disclose a felony orcivil action history. -International FranchiseAssociation
