Narrowing the Pool of Candidates Before you call in potential job candidates, make sure they meet your skill requirements.
Try to determine if candidates have the basic skills you needearly in the selection process. If you don't see these skillsin their resumes or learn about them in preliminary telephoneinterviews, these candidates are probably not on your"face-to-face" interview list. Even the candidates onyour interview list who appear to have the skills you need maydiffer significantly in their ability to perform. Probe candidateswith questions that will uncover their ability to perform specificaspects of the job.
