DonorsChoose.org: A Vision for Supporting Teachers and Students

Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own.

In this season of Young Visionaries, we talk to entrepreneurs tackling social, cultural, and environmental goals by harnessing entrepreneurial principles and out-of-the-box thinking to create positive change.

Former Bronx public-school teacher, Charles Best realized early on that the nation's public schools were underfunded -- to the detriment to students who missed out on more expensive learning opportunities. Activities that required extra funds like fieldtrips and art projects simply wouldn't occur. To resolve this problem, Best founded DonorsChoose.org, where individual donors can now provide funds to support individual projects at public schools nationwide.

See how the organization is growing and maintaining its social vision.
