Learn key phrases. Michelle Karam, founder of the platform Travel Junkie Diary suggests you never leave home without sayings and vocabulary words, especially if you’re looking to close a deal. ”It’s always impressive,” she says.
Slow down. Westerners speak quickly in general, says Karam, but if you’re conducting business in English, you might not give your counterparts a chance to catch up with everything you’re saying.
Listen more. Don’t feel you need to speak to fill silences, says Karam. Listening ensures that you take time to focus and let your surroundings sink in.
