Dylan Lauren founded Dylan’s Candy Bar in 2001, a chain of boutique candy shops she describes as “a museum for candy.” But making the vision a reality wasn’t easy -- and meant figuring out which voices she should listen to and which she could filter out.

“When you don’t stick to your guns and to what you believe in," says the candy mogul, "that begins to shift what you’re selling and then you’re not staying on-brand.”

In this short video, Lauren shares how she balances listening to both supporters and skeptics -- and how she deals with naysayers.
