Retaining Company Culture Comes Down to Hiring the Right People

Retaining your company's culture as it grows comes down to hiring people who are within a few "degrees" of it, says a recruiting expert.

"If you can build a structured process ... you will be able to continue to preserve your culture as it grows," says Andre Lavoie, CEO of ClearCompany, a talent-alignment platform. "What should remain consistent is the mission and vision, but roles and competencies change and evolve."

He says you need to be purposeful in the way you recruit people. Hiring the best people can lead to big growth for your company, but you shouldn't settle for that A player if it doesn't feel right.

"Company culture starts right in the design of your recruiting process," he says.
