The two most important things to look out for? Qualifications and consistency. You wouldn't take medical advice from a stranger you met at the bar, so why take business advice from someone who hasn't run a business? At the same time, though, it's important to make sure that your advisors actually practices what they preach. Don't let another business owner make you his guinea pig or try out untested theories through you.
