How to Write a Great Mission Statement Your mission statement can be as important to your success as your business plan.

A mission statement communicates your company's goal's and tells your customers what you're all about. When writing a mission statement, think about what makes your business extraordinary.

Before sitting down to write, you should know who your customers are and what you can do for them, what factors contribute to the pricing and value of your services and what roles you and your colleagues play in the company.

What sets you apart from your competitors? Anyone looking at your mission statement will want to know your strengths and how you offset their weaknesses. Ultimately the statement should give a sense of your vision and motivation for going into business in the first place.
