Philip Wolff and Chief Behr are two of the most sought-after hairstylists in the world.

In part one of this series, Wolff shares how he realized he had a natural knack for cutting hair at a young age and that it was his mother who encouraged him to pursue hair as a career. Born in Landstuhl, Germany, Wolff lived and traveled throughout Europe before moving to Washington, D.C., in his early teens. At 20 years old, Wolff started as an apprentice at a Toni & Guy concept salon in Maryland. He then became a hair stylist at PR at Partners, a U.K.-based company with 15 locations in D.C. Wolff made a name for himself, establishing a long list of loyal clientele, but in 2004 he needed a change and decided to move to L.A.

Once he unpacked in L.A., Wolff found himself trying to keep his career going by working out of several salons. He finally landed a deal with Privé Salon to work for nine months in Seoul, Korea, at the W Hotel, which enabled him to cut hair for a celebrities, models and members of the Samsung family. Wolff has worked on a number of runway shows, television shows and the MTV Asia network.

When Wolff returned to L.A., he worked as a stylist at Privé's Beverly Hills salon and worked as an artistic educator for Privé Products. During the five years he spent at Privé, he worked L.A. Fashion week styling celebrity clients such as Kim Kardashian, who remains a client to this day.

These days, Wolff is busy working around the world with his business partner Behr. While the two are dedicated to educating stylists in the U.S. and abroad, they are excited to be launching a new line of products.
