In this video Entrepreneur Network Partner Business Rockstars sits down with Jonathan Kendrick, the co-founder of ROK Mobile and ROK Brands, to talk about his influences of getting intro entrepreneurship. He lost his father at age 16 and his mother at 20, and he started his first company at 21 with around $700.

Though he admits it's a little cheesy, one of the best things that has happened to Kendrick is marrying his wife, whom he considers his best friend. After losing two fortunes earlier in his career, he was able to bounce back with the third, all three of which is wife managed. Kendrick's life, though not an easy ride, is filled with the results of his hard work and dedication to developing projects he built himself. This hard-nosed level of hard work eventually allowed him to pursue an early retirment in 1998, though it was a short-lived period.

The self-made entrepreneur admits, at the end of the day, what he loves most is building something out of nothing -- especially when that something is a large, burgeoning company.
