Mike Rowe: This One Thing Can Make Any Job Feel Like a Soul-Sucking Waste of Time The well-known TV personality says this can make any job a bad job.

Entrepreneurs create jobs. It's what they do. But once a position is made, it's also the entrepreneur's responsibility to make sure that job is keeping the employee motivated, challenged and satisfied.

"Jobs that leave you feeling futile are bad jobs," says Mike Rowe, who is best known as host of the long-running TV show Dirty Jobs. "Walk through any place with cubicles, any place, and talk at length with people about what really satisfies them and frustrates them on the job and it always comes back to -- in my experience, anyway -- some measure of futility."

If there are no obvious visual cues that an employee's job is done and done right, the next best thing is giving employees feedback. "Constant feedback, even when it's not positive ... it matters," Rowe says. "It's a little thing, but it's a giant thing."

For more on Rowe's thoughts on futility in the workplace, check out the short video above. You can see more of Rowe on his new show, Somebody's Gotta Do It, which airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on CNN.
