Questions All Social-Media Marketers Must Ask How to make a comprehensive social marketing plan.

By Nina Zipkin

When building a social-media marketing plan, the different ways you have available to you to reach your customers can be daunting. But with these five guidelines, you should be able to make a considerable impact.

1.What do you want to accomplish? You can use social media to interact with customers, share promotions and deals, getting the word out and increase your company's visibility.

2.Who should manage your company's accounts? If you can, hand the reins to someone who has a marketing or social-media background, or who has an ability to craft a distinct voice for your company across many channels. Look for consistency and a dynamic point of view.

3.Should you use every platform? Start with a blog and the one or two networks you feel most comfortable using. Then as you grow, find where your customers spend their time online and go there.

4.What are the best networks for small businesses? Twitter is a great place to start, and Google+ can help when it comes to online search. Decide whether you want a platform that is more about words or pictures.

5.What type of content should we post? Images, links, deals, curated posts from other sites always work well. If you have the manpower for it, think about doing a twitter chat about the topics that interest your customers.
