For the husband-wife team behind backpack company State, shopping for back-to-school supplies goes beyond trendy bags.

Jacq and Scot Tatelman are determined to help every student make it to the head of the class. The Brooklyn natives launched their one-for-one company to support children who live in America's most at-risk neighborhoods.

"For every bag we sell, regardless of the distribution channel, we donate one to an American child living in need," says CEO Beryl Solomon.

Through drop off events, the company's "PackMen" and "PackWomen" lead motivational rallies that help students leave with new back-to-school gear and a new state of mind.
