Students Say - Academics
"By and large, undergrads extol the virtues of a University of Missouriâ€"Kansas City education. Many laud their "incredible professors" who "seem to really care about the students." Despite "hard classes" the professors often "take the time to help you figure [things] out." Impressively, a number of professors look beyond the classroom, taking "an interest in the rest of your school experience and typically [are] willing to help you with whatever you may need." Students especially highlight the strong accounting department, noting that the faculty "draw on real life experiences and are dedicated to helping students learn in and out of the classroom." Unfortunately, reviews of the administration are decidedly mixed. While one junior asserts that they have "gone out of their way to make my experience here at UMKC a good one," others have found them "unorganized" and "misinformed." And one senior, while declining to elaborate, says, "There are many issues that should be addressed.""

Students Say - Campus Life
"For a "commuter campus," UMKC does "an excellent job of getting students involved." Each semester brings a "welcome week…with fun activities for the whole student body as well as diverse community programs." Indeed undergrads can frequently be seen "socializing and attending different activities [sponsored] by fraternities and other groups." Naturally, students participate in traditional activities such as "hanging out with friends, going to the theater, playing video games [and] poker, and playing sports." Of course, Kansas City itself provides a wealth of entertainment opportunities. The campus is within "walking distance to the world-renowned Country Club Plaza," where students can enjoy "excellent bars, restaurants, and shops." Importantly, "the cost of living is very affordable, housing easy to find, and traffic…minimal." Sports enthusiasts can celebrate and support the local professional teams, and music lovers will be thrilled by the "recent opening of the Sprint Center, where many exciting concerts and shows are being scheduled.""

Students Say - Student Body
"The University of Missouriâ€"Kansas City student body is "very diverse." Indeed there are "a wide variety of students, from [the] typical college age to older students who are working and changing careers." Many undergrads appreciate this high matriculation of non-traditional students; a junior accounting major notes, "[They] make classes more interesting because of the experience they bring to the table." UMKC also offers a cultural cornucopia as the university is home to a number of international students. One proud senior readily supports this sharing, "I have personally met students from Russia, Asia, Africa, and the UK." If pressed to find one commonality that unites them, students would almost unanimously agree that their peers are "hard working." These academically inclined undergrads "maintain high GPAs and take classes seriously." Perhaps this junior business administration major sums it up best saying, "We all want to learn and get ahead in life.""
