Work-Life Balance Tips From a World-Traveling Executive On this episode of "Spartan UP!," Unilever Personal Care President Alan Jope talks about balancing his unique lifestyle with his high-ranking position.

By Entrepreneur Staff

Alan Jope, president of Unilever's Personal Care business, knows how to live. Because of Jope's high-ranking position, many would not be surprised to find him completely consumed by his work. And although he is committed to his job, Jope says it is not the source of his identity.

Jope and four friends are riding stretches of a world-spanning motorcycle trip, which comes with its share of mishaps and injuries. He describes feeling distanced from civilization during his rides, and he says that "the biggest thing that comes out of it is the friendship."

Jope's job does not define him, but it does enable him to become the person he always dreamed he could be. On this episode of the Spartan UP! podcast series, Jope discusses his lifestyle as well as the benefits of mission-driven brands. He explains the lessons he's learned from traveling and moving around the world, including his belief that "where you are in the world is more important than what you're doing."
