Seeing Red? Keep This In Mind When Choosing Marketing Colors. Just because one color works for some companies doesn't mean it will work for yours.

Red is a great color for grabbing a person's attention, right? So then red should be the best color for marketing and driving sales conversions, no?

Even if it works for one company in one particular instance it doesn't mean it will also work for you. In this video, marketing strategist Gregory Ciotti explains the importance of pairing colors in marketing and branding.

Instead of assuming that high-impact colors will have the same effect across the board, Ciotti says that accent color needs to be paired smartly with a background color in order to create high contrast. The accent color should be associated with your call to action, especially when selling products or services online.

"The big mistake is trying to assign certain magic colors, like orange is best for conversions, or red or yellow," Ciotti says. "It's all context dependent."
