3 Tips to Get the Most Out of Conferences Conferences can either be a complete waste of time or very productive. Make sure your time at these events is well spent with these three steps.

Conferences and networking events can be draining on our energy (and our mobile devices). Even the most extroverted among us can start to feel overwhelmed at these big events, but they are invaluable ways to make industry contacts and get the word out about your company. So here are three ways to make your conference experience a success.

1. Be discerning. Not all conferences will work for your purposes. Before you pour any resources into an event, do your research and make sure this conference will get you your money's worth.

2. Treat your business cards like gold. Don't give out your card to just anyone. Find out who will be attending the conference and connect with the people you are most interested in speaking with. Try shooting them an email before the event so you can set up a time to meet.

3. Leave a lasting impression. Be memorable, and don't forget to stay professional and treat your fellow conference-goers like you would want to be treated.
