Silk Hospitality and Silknet continue their support of Georgian artists, this time presenting Tutu Kiladze's work to visitors at Radisson Blu Tbilisi.
Kiladze's art immediately draws the viewer in with its sincerity, emotional intensity, and spontaneous visual language. Her paintings feel like short stories, telling of blue waves and drifting boats, colourful fields, blooming trees, shimmering pools, snowflakes, as well as curious, kind-hearted people and fairy-tale-like animals.
The artist was born and raised in Tbilisi in 1981. After enrolling at the Academy, she began working mainly with oil paints, though she believes that experimenting with different materials is essential for any artist. As a child, she explored coloured pencils, gouache, and watercolours; later in life, she expanded into oils, soft pastels, and even ceramics.
"My paintings and ceramic tiles from different periods are on display at Radisson Blu Iveria. The sea is a recurring theme in my work. You will also see tiles inspired by The Knight in the Panther's Skin, which I illustrated for an upcoming book. I draw inspiration from everyday life, relationships and simple moments. I start painting with colour and follow the mood, often discovering something new along the way. Working with ceramics is especially exciting because the final result is always a surprise. I've grown very attached to clay and enjoy the process deeply. This space suits the works beautifully. The angled walls give a unique feeling, as if the paintings are floating, creating a light and elegant exhibition." – Tutu Kiladze, artist.
"Tutu's signature style is highly distinctive; you can almost always recognise her work at first glance. We are constantly looking for artists who bring something unique, allowing us to bring Georgian art to life within our hotel spaces for international guests. I believe Tutu is one of the most remarkable Georgian artists today, and her exhibition stands out for its diversity and vibrant colour palette," says Mariam Kakabadze, Art Curator at Silk Hospitality.
The exhibition will be on display in the hotel's gallery space from April 20 to June 15.
