School Says - Academics
The Fox School of Business offers 11 areas of concentration to a mix of both full-time and part-time students. With programs in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, general and strategic management, healthcare management, human resource management, international business administration, international business (tri-continent), management information systems, and risk management and insurance, Fox gives graduate students an unusually wide array of choices. The Fox MBA is a full-time, two-year cohort program, and The Fox Professional MBA provides management education to working professionals on a part-time basis. Both programs prepare individuals to assume leadership roles in corporations, as well as in governmental and nongovernmental organizations which also require business management skills. The Fox School also offers specialized masterÂ's degrees which provide an educational experience with a more concentrated scope in a specific business discipline.

Applying early allows you to be considered among the first applicants for candidacy at The Fox School of Business. It usually takes two weeks for an admissions decision after we determine that the application is complete. This is exclusive of the time it takes the graduate school to evaluate the applications. For international transcripts it can take up to an additional four weeks to receive an answer.
School Says - Campus Life
Temple UniversityÂ's facilities are on the cutting edge of technology and expose todayÂ's students to tomorrowÂ's innovation. The brand new Alter Hall (opening January 2009) will incorporate innovation in smart classroom design, one of the longest stock tickers in the United States, a trading room/business simulation center, and other technology for teaching and learning designed to prepare students by mirroring a business environment. To encourage the teamwork intrinsic to the corporate world, the building will include breakout and interview rooms, recruiting offices, conference centers, and MBA commons, a special lounge specifically for the MBA student population.
Students Say - Academics
There is something for everyone at Temple University's Fox School of Business, which offers a range of "very intensive" MBA programs designed to meet the needs of business professionals at every stage of their career. Depending on your professional objectives, Temple operates two fulltime programs: the Fox MBA, a two-year cohort program, and the International MBA, an intensive one-year program, taught in four different countries. In addition, the school offers the part-time Professional MBA for working professionals, and the part-time Executive MBA for experienced business managers and executives. Finally, Temple confers professional certificates for post-MBA graduates, operates an online MBA, and offers three PhD programs in business, as well as a joint MBA/JD. While these programs are tailored to fit varying needs and experiences, every program at Temple enjoys a great local reputation and a patently student-oriented outlook. What's more, Temple offers a "high value education for the money." Despite the school's "affordable tuition," students benefit from a "solid curriculum in a rapidly growing region.
While their schedule and format differ, the Fox MBA and the Professional MBA share a curriculum focused on team building, critical thinking, and practical problem solving. The "solid and balanced" core curriculum incorporates classes in a range of business disciplines, including economics, marketing, finance, operations management, global business, and risk management. In addition to the core, all students in the Professional and Fox MBAs participate in the Enterprise Management Consulting Practicum-a real-world consulting project, overseen by faculty mentors. When it comes to the nuts and bolts, students tell us that "There have been several administrative staff changes" in the past few years, which has caused some glitches here and there. However, the school generally runs smoothly and "The administrative staff are very helpful and easily approachable."
On that note, it is the personal touch that really distinguishes the Fox School of Business. A "very welcoming environment," you will never feel like a face in the crowd. At Temple, "Professors encourage class discussion and create [an] atmosphere for participation." A current student enthuses, "I like that our class is small and that I know everyone very well. I would feel comfortable contacting any of my classmates in the future." Not every professor was born to teach, but, on the whole, the faculty is "outstanding, very interesting, experienced in their fields, [and] very open to discussing all viewpoints." A student gushes, "They are innovative thinkers and leaders in their fields who challenge, provoke (in a good way!), and inspire their students." Even so, students mention that some of the coursework is a bit outdated, and could stand to incorporate "more contemporary case studies."
Students Say - Admissions
Admissions standards vary slightly by program. In the Professional MBA program, most admits had a GMAT score between 560-690, an average undergraduate GPA of 3.4, and an average work experience of seven years. By comparison, students in the full-time MBA program generally scored between 600-710 on the GMAT, though most had fewer years of professional work experience (3.5 to 4.5 years).
Students Say - Campus Life
Temple students dole out praises for their talented classmates, describing them as "friendly and outgoing, intelligent in their fields, [and] aware of current events in the business world." The lust for learning is ubiquitous, and "Our class has high energy discussions during lectures and outside of the classroom." While students naturally get to know each other through coursework, there are also "a number of clubs, such as the MBA and MS student association which allows students to interact with students from other programs within Temple. There are also international clubs that allow American students to learn about the cultures of the countries represented by the student population." In addition to clubs, socializing takes place more casually. On campus, "Couches and meeting areas are all over so that students can chat or study in a more comfortable environment." In addition, there are "many informal social gatherings for students held both at local watering holes and fellow students' houses."
Due to the demands of work, school, and home life, you "don't see too many of the part-time students taking advantage of other programs the school has to offer or becoming heavily involved in outside community or club-sponsored activities." At the same time, part-time students are highly pleased with the business school campus and auxiliary facilities in Philadelphia, which offer good food, fast Internet, and comfortable chairs. In addition, "computer labs are big and accessible" and "Security is good" at all campuses. Set in exciting urban environment, "Living in Philadelphia gives you all the good things of New York at half the price."
Students Say - Careers
Boasting "strong connections to the local business community and support of local businessmen and women," Temple provides "good networking opportunities for those who want to take advantage of them." Currently, Fox MBA graduates are employed at a range of companies in the area, including Aetna, Bristol-Meyers Squibb, CIGNA, Cingular Wireless, Deloitte & Touche, Ernst & Young LLP, FedEx Corps, Geico, Hewlett-Packard Company, IBM, Lehman Brothers, Lockheed Martin, McKinsey & Company, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Siemens, The United Nations, and Wachovia, among others. As such, Temple offers unparalleled "accessibility to companies in the Philadelphia area."
For those who don't want to stay in the Pennsylvania, students feel that Temple could do a better job "marketing itself outside Philadelphia." They would also like to see the Career Management Center create "some formal, stronger recruiting contacts with some larger companies. They do have some relationships and it is a small school, but a few more would be beneficial."
