Each of the campuses has its own distinct qualities and all the campuses are linked by a free shuttle.

The main campus, located in downtown Honolulu, provides a fast-paced, exciting urban environment in the heart of the business community. The downtown campus is located in the center of Honolulu's business district. HPU's main technological facility is the Frear Center, which houses state-of-the-art classrooms, a communication lab, a robotics lab, and a high-tech information systems classroom. HPU's Meader Library provides a multitude of general and specialized resources, including a business reference collection, a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) collection, and many online databases and journals. The circulating book collections support communications, computer studies, education, literature, social sciences, and other curriculum areas. Also available are study areas, group study rooms, computer work stations, and wireless Internet. The Tutoring and Testing center provides free tutoring in all core subjects. A multimedia lab with computers is available in The Learning Assistance Center. The recently expanded computer lab has more than 400 computers.

Eight miles away, the 135-acre windward Hawai'i Loa campus, which is set in the lush foothills of the Ko'olau mountains, is the home to the School of Nursing, the Marine Science program, and a variety of course offerings. The Hawai'i Loa campus has residence halls, dining commons, the Educational Technology Center, a student center, and outdoor recreational facilities including a soccer field, tennis courts, a softball field, and an exercise room.

Academic life on the Hawai'i Loa campus revolves around the Amos N. Starr and Juliette Montague Cooke Academic Center (AC). The AC houses classrooms, Organic Chemistry, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, and regular laboratories, faculty and staff offices, a theater, an art gallery, and the Atherton Library, which includes circulating and reference book collections in the areas of art, history, marine science, nursing, and Hawai'i and the Pacific. Additionally, the library provides access to electronic books (e-books), databases, study rooms, computers, and wireless Internet.

The third campus, Oceanic Institute, is a major research center specializing in marine biology, marine aquaculture, biotechnology and ocean resource management. It is located on a 56-acre site at Makapu'u Point on the windward coast of Oahu, Hawai'i. Learning, internship and research opportunities for graduates and undergraduates abound in this hands-on learning environment.

School Says - Admissions
HPU operates on a rolling admissions basis, but students are encouraged to submit their applications as early as possible. The university recommends that students who wish to start a graduate program immediately following their undergraduate program should apply in their senior year. Applicants to Hawaii Pacific University's graduate degree programs must demonstrate an academic potential for that level of study. They must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the United States or comparable degree from another country.

Graduate program applicants must submit the following documentation: 1) an application form, 2) $50 nonrefundable application fee, 3) official transcripts of all previous postsecondary academic work, 4) personal statement or essay describing the applicant's academic and career objectives, 5) letters of recommendation and 6) results of the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) for the MBA only. A resume is optional and should reflect professional work experience and volunteer community activities. Applications for admission to HPU's graduate programs can be downloaded from the university's website. www.hpu.edu/grad

With three campuses on the island of Oahu, Hawai'i Pacific University combines the excitement of an urban downtown campus with a pristine marine institute and the serenity of a residential campus set in the green foothills of the Ko'olau Mountains. The main campus is ideally located in downtown Honolulu, the business and financial center of the Pacific. Eight miles away, situated on 135 acres in Kaneohe, the windward Hawai'i Loa campus is the site of nursing, marine biology, oceanography, environmental sciences and several liberal arts programs. Students can travel between the two campuses on a convenient HPU shuttle service. The third campus, Oceanic Institute, is an applied aquaculture research facility located on a 56-acre site at Makapu'u Point on the windward coast of Oahu, Hawai'i, with facilities on the Big Island of Hawai'i as well.

School Says - Cost Aid
Tuition for graduate students enrolled in fall and spring semesters is determined on a per-credit basis; full-time status for a graduate student is nine credits. Tuition for the optional winter and summer sessions is also determined on a per-credit basis. The estimated minimum funds needed for a nine-month academic year (September 2009 to May 2010) based on 2009-2010 school-year expenses is $28,885. HPU's graduate scholarships range from 20 percent to 50 percent tuition waivers for one or two semesters. Graduate assistantships provide a 50 percent tuition waiver for one semester and require the student to commit to a 10-hour-per-week work assignment.
