School Says - Admissions
Admission to the MBA program at Baylor University is competitive. We intentionally select a diverse student body that reflects a variety of academic and professional backgrounds. We're looking for individuals with professional work experience, outstanding scholarship, leadership potential, a commitment to community service, and a motivation to pursue an intense MBA program. There is no minimum work experience requirement, but successful applicants are able to demonstrate strong leadership and analytical skills regardless of the number of years of work experience. We look for evidence of a strong work ethic, passion and ethical awareness that will allow you to spark a lively discussion in and out of the classroom.

School Says - Campus Life
The Hankamer School of Business features the Southwest Securities Financial Markets Center, a 75-seat video-conferencing room, and Graduate Center that maximizes discussion and interaction between students and faculty. Wireless network access (AirBear) is provided throughout the campus so students can connect to the Baylor network from any location on campus.

Students Say - Academics
A "Christian school with a strong emphasis on ethics," the Hankamer School of Business at Baylor University offers "high standards, a great reputation, and an intimate learning environment" to its small, full-time student population. Students tell us the program "strikes a perfect balance between holding students accountable for work and providing resources and mentoring for those who need a little extra assistance."
The Baylor MBA can be completed in 16 to 21 months, a plus for managers on the go. The curriculum is fully integrated "to tie everything together nicely" with a focus on "strong communication skills and management preparation." Study includes a series of operations 5-week, cross-disciplinary courses covering accounting, finance, statistics, information systems, and information management; these classes are spread out over three semesters. The program also includes four semester-long core courses covering marketing strategy, microeconomics, communications management, and organizational behavior. Students supplement the core with one elective during each of the three lockstep semesters. All students complete either a summer internship or a summer abroad as part of the program. The program also includes the Focus Firm practicum, a project in which students assess a real-life business problem and propose solutions. One MBA enjoyed the fact that students have "worked with executives at Hewlett-Packard to address core problems within the company."
The size of the program and the lockstep curriculum combine to create an "intimate environment where everyone knows everyone and we can build great relationships and friendships that I hope last a lifetime," says one MBA. Professors contribute to this environment; they "are readily available for one-on-one sessions during office hours and by appointment . . . I am thoroughly impressed by the level of attention to detail that the staff and professors exert to provide us with a superb education," says a first-year student. The program also boasts "amazing facilities" and "an administration that works hard at making sure we have a great business school." Still another benefit of a Baylor MBA: "Great alumni networking in Texas to use for future jobs."

Students Say - Admissions
Those seeking admission to the Hankamer School must submit the following materials: a completed application (online application preferred); two letters of recommendation from individuals who know you professionally and can assess your skills and potential; official undergraduate transcripts (international students who attended a non-English-speaking school must provide professionally translated and interpreted academic records); a GMAT score report; a current resume; and personal essays detailing qualifications, experiences, and objectives in pursuing a Hankamer MBA. International students whose first language is not English must also submit a score report for the TOEFL (minimum score: 600, paper-based test; 250, computer-based test; or 100, Internet-based test) or the IELS (minimum score: 7.5). Hankamer processes applications on a rolling basis; candidates are notified of their admission status as soon as a decision is made.

Students Say - Campus Life
"The MBA class is very social" at Hankamer, where students "work hard together and play in our spare time." "Everyone in the MBA program is very close" "due to the small number of students in classes. Everyone knows everyone else" and "is willing and able to help one another and work together." "Almost all students work out in the student center after class, and there are always study groups and tutoring if you want to join them." Unsurprisingly, at this Christian university, "Religious resources are outstanding." Perhaps more surprising is the fact that "if a student wants a nightlife, that is also available." One student sums up, "School life is study hard and play hard....We have an excellent wireless network through the entire campus. The health care facilities are top notch. Eateries are nice. Quality of life is good. Isn't life what we make of it anyway? We make it enjoyable here!"
Baylor's "easygoing" but "ambitious" MBAs "come from diverse backgrounds with different levels and backgrounds of experiences. Each of us has something excellent to contribute to our program. During team projects, we diligently engage in the activities to produce results. We respect one another," and "Each of us listens to our individual perspectives. We have learned and continue to learn to collaborate and build good relationships." Students tend to be "mostly recent undergraduates." The student body is ethnically diverse "in regards to international students."

Students Say - Careers
Baylor employs two full-time career placement professionals to work exclusively with the school's approximately 90 MBA students as well as with alumni. Students tell us that "Career Services has picked up the pace a lot this year. You almost have to try to avoid them." Some still grumble that "placement rates for graduates are low" as are the "campus recruiting opportunities."
Employers who most frequently hire Baylor MBAs include: Accenture, Allergan, American Express, Annuity Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, Anadarko Petroleum, Bank One, Bearing Point, Capgemini, Comerica, Community Bank and Trust, ConocoPhillips Company, Countrywide, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Echostar Communications, Ernst & Young, ExxonMobil, The Gallup Organization, Goldman Sachs, IBM, Intecap, the IRS, Johnson & Johnson, JPMorgan Chase, KPMG International, Kraft Foods, Merck, Perot Systems, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Protiviti, Q Investments, RSM McGladrey, Shell Oil, Southwest Airlines, Sprint, Steak 'n Shake Operations, UBS Financial Services, Verizon Wireless, Wal-Mart, and Zale Corporation.
