Students Say - Academics
"Hope College promotes ""a Christian, academically rigorous curriculum with a small, friendly atmosphere and plenty of things to do and ways to plug in"" for its small, academically accomplished student body. Undergrads adamantly inform us that ""Hope excels in every area and is well-known nationwide, making job placement very high"" for graduates. Standout offerings include ""excellent pre-professional programs,"" ""wonderful science majors, great psychology and sociology departments,"" a ""great education program,"" ""arts programs that are all very strong,"" a solid business major, and a ""very competitive nursing program."" As one student puts it, ""Really, any major that someone might pursue is a strong program. That's what makes Hope College such a wonderful liberal arts college."" Like many small schools, Hope offers small classes led by ""professors [who] really care about all their students and are available if someone needs help"" and an administration that is ""receptive to students."" The school's size also means that ""the opportunities for student involvement with on-campus activities are just unlimited and taken advantage of by so many students. Seriously, it's kind of strange how involved the typical Hope student is."""

Students Say - Campus Life
"""Sports are very big at Hope,"" with men's basketball being the biggest; ""The Dew Crew is the men's basketball student cheering section, and it is one of the best in the MIAA Conference."" Greek life is also popular. The student body ""is pretty much split up into the people who like drinking and partying and the people who don't. There are parties if you know where to look for them, but a good amount of the students don't drink."" Those students may pursue leisure fun in downtown Holland, which offers ""laser tag, the movies, a mall, dance clubs,"" ""a bowling alley, ice cream and coffee shops, and lots of restaurants."" In the warmer months students "go to the beach, which is only five miles from campus,"" and, whenever possible, indulge in Frisbee golf, which students tell us ""is huge"" here."
