School Says - Academics
Even a field as specialized as aviation requires a broad background. General education courses are required of all students who are pursuing a baccalaureate program and include communication skills, such as English composition, literature, and technical report writing; humanities; social sciences; mathematics; physical science; economics; and computer science. The more specialized courses include applied aerodynamics, space mechanics, aircraft performance, air traffic management, airport management, international business, computer modeling and simulation, space physics, human factors and system safety and applied climatology. To ensure academic success, Embry-Riddle provides free tutorial services. The Student Success Center addresses the overall college experience and provides students with personal as well as academic support. The academic calendar year is divided into two semesters of fifteen weeks each, with the summer session divided into two terms. The average course load for each fall or spring semester is 15 credit hours.
School Says - Admissions
Admission is open to any qualified applicant, regardless of creed, sex, race, national origin, handicap, or geographical location. Admission decisions are based on high school work, college courses attempted, accomplishments, and SAT I or ACT scores. Embry-Riddle encourages every student to visit the campus and have a personal interview prior to making the decision to attend the university. New students are eligible for admission at the beginning of the fall, spring, and summer terms. A student who is transferring from a community college or from a four-year institution and who has completed at least 12 semester hours immediately prior to applying at Embry-Riddle is considered a transfer applicant. Applications are accepted throughout the year, but we recommend that you apply as early as possible before the desired enrollment date.
