Students Say - Academics
A "small, diverse, private, Catholic [college], with a large commuter population," Iona College is known for "its proximity to New York City" and its "quality of education," all delivered in a picturesque suburban setting. In many ways, students say Iona features "the best of both worlds with the suburbs down the street in one direction and downtown city in the other." Iona's "beautiful, quiet" New Rochelle campus "has that New England feeling to it" but offers big city opportunities. Students at Iona feel like they are "getting the most for [their] money." Many flock to the school for its excellent business school and generous scholarships. Iona combines "a great commute," "a beautiful, loving campus," and a "warm, welcoming attitude." Professors at Iona can be hit or miss. As one student says, "I found that the professors that taught me my major were professional and well-organized. The professors teaching the core classes were mediocre at best." Overall, Iona "is about academic achievement while also improving the social life of its students and preparing them for the outside world." These qualities make it a gem which stays in the family: "Both my parents and some of my relatives attended Iona and they loved it."

Students Say - Campus Life
The "super friendly students," "safe private campus," and close proximity to "the country's greatest city" (only an "easy train ride away"), all make Iona a great choice for commuters and residents alike. This "small, close- knit community" is comprised of motivated individuals who are "always eager to reach out to others and help them in order to make a difference." With Manhattan only a 20 minute ride away on the Metro North commuter railroad, students take full advantage of the opportunity "to go to New York City" for a night out on the town. During the week, students tend to stay on campus and enjoy "hanging out in the dorm rooms with a bunch of people." Though "the underclass dorms are dry," for those of age there is liquid diversion in the area: "A lot of the students like to go out to the bars, right by Iona, known as Beechmont and Spectators." If that's not your speed, students say there is "always some kind of a house party going on somewhere over the weekend." The school is "constantly improving and advancing the campus," a mission in which they invite students to take part; "There are many leadership positions available to students, with the offer of creating new clubs and organizations that do not [currently] exist." Nearby entertainment includes "The Westchester Mall and the Galleria."

Students Say - Student Body
Iona's community "is one of the most diverse communities out there." "Whether commuters or dorm students everyone seems to get along," and many are "part of an organization or club on campus." Though the typical student tends to be "a white, Christian person, usually who comes from an Irish or Italian background" and "is from Westchester County," students say "There is a mix of many different groups. Every person will find a group to fit in with and all groups get along well with each other." In fact, diversity is exactly what makes Iona distinct. "Many people from different social [and] ethnic...groups make up what we call our 'home away from home.'"
