Columbia College Chicago is the nation's largest and most diverse private arts college. Columbia takes a pragmatic approach to education in the visual, performing, media and communication arts that encourages students to fully explore their chosen program of study. Columbia is centrally located in ChicagoÃ's South Loop, near ChicagoÃ's major theaters, museums, concert halls, restaurants, clubs, parks, galleries, recreational facilities and Lake Michigan. Our campus sits at the heart of the cityÃ's major corporations, ad agencies, television and radio stations, public relations firms, production houses, recording facilities, design studios and dance companies. The foundation of a Columbia education features intimate class settings (average class size: fewer than 20 students) that ensure close interaction with a faculty of working professionals, plentiful internship opportunities with major employers in Chicago and national marketplaces, outstanding facilities that encourage learning by doing and a required core of Liberal Arts classes that provide the broad and enriching underpinnings of our studentsÃ' course of study.
School Says - Student Body
When they aren't showing at campus galleries, publishing in award-winning magazines, or freestyling at poetry slams, Columbia students take an active role in Chicago's arts community. The influence of Columbia's young talent can be felt in theaters, bookstores and radio stations throughout the city. And every spring, students return the favor by inviting Chicago to their doorstep for Manifest, the city's largest student arts exhibition.

School Says - Admissions
Columbia seeks to admit a culturally, economically and educationally diverse student body. You can't do, can't learn, can't excel at what you want to do in the arts and communications fields without exposure to a widely diverse range of students, faculty and staff to challenge your thinking, to inspire your growth, and to move your art form forward. Columbia College Chicago will review your admission materials with an eye toward the big picture, the whole person. We want to learn as much as we can about your academic and creative achievements (and challenges), your aspirations and your goals. We will consider your full potential - as well as your experience and education. We won't look only at who you are now and where you've been; we will look at who you will be. Columbia makes admissions decisions on a rolling basis, notifying students of their admission decision within three to four weeks of completing their application file.
