In official terms, Florida Tech is a regionally accredited, coeducational, independent, privately supported university. But it is so much more. As the only independent technological university in the Southeastern United States, it is also an international center for innovation, high-caliber research and world-class education. The university is ranked a Tier One Best National University by U.S. News and World Report. School Says - Student Body
More than 100 student organizations represent the varied interests of Florida Tech's students, including student government; fraternities and sororities; political and religious groups; college-run radio and television; dance, music, science fiction, choral, and theater performance; and academic and honor organizations. In 2009, the university founded a Florida Tech chapter Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest, largest and most selective honor society for all academic disciplines.

Florida Tech belongs to the prestigious Sunshine State Conference and is home to 21 intercollegiate varsity sports teams. Comprised of students who love the challenge of balancing rigorous academics with fierce athletic competition, Panther athletics are a source of spirit and pride among the campus community and beyond. Programs offered are: baseball (m), basketball (m/w), cross country (m/w), football (m, NAIA), golf (m/w), lacrosse (m), rowing (m/w), soccer (m/w), softball (w), swimming (m/w), tennis (m/w), track (m/w), volleyball (w).

School Says - Academics
Undergraduate students who enroll in the College of Engineering have the opportunity to enroll in the ProTrack co-op program. ProTrack combines the proven benefits of traditional cooperative education with a unique, rigorous, student-centered approach. Florida Tech's unique 3-in-4 curriculum structure allows engineering students to complete three semester-long work experiences related to their major and career interests while earning a bachelor's degree, all in four years. With ProTrack, students graduate on time and with a year of valuable work experience-perfect preparation for the competitive workforce.

Undergraduate students in all areas of study may take advantage of Florida Tech's FastTrack accelerated master's degree program, which lets highly motivated students take graduate course work before completing their undergraduate degree. This enables them to complete a master's degree in less time than they otherwise could, usually within only one additional calendar year of study. Prospective undergraduate students interested in an accelerated master's degree program may notify the Office of Undergraduate Admission by submitting the FastTrack supplemental application.

School Says - Admissions
Applications for undergraduate admission to Florida Institute of Technology are accepted on a rolling basis and are reviewed throughout the year as they are received. Prospective students are welcome to apply anytime after the junior year and are encouraged to do so before Feb. 1 of the senior year in order to be considered for all merit scholarship opportunities.

Admission to Florida Tech is based on past academic achievement as indicated by high school curriculum, class rank and GPA, aptitude as reflected by standardized test scores, and character as evidenced by an admission essay and participation in academic, leadership and service organizations. Prospective students are required to submit a complete application, high school transcripts, SAT or ACT results and a brief essay.

School Says - Campus Life
Florida Tech is located in Melbourne, Fla., a residential community just five minutes from Atlantic Coast beaches and a historic riverside downtown. Main campus spans 130 acres, about 30 of which are home to the university's own Botanical Garden, a lush oasis of subtropical plant and animal life. The climate in Melbourne is warm and sunny; the average daily temperature is 76F/24C. With the Indian River Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean less than 5 miles from the campus, water sports such as swimming, sailing, surfing, diving, fishing and boating are year-round activities. Bicycling and skateboarding are popular modes of campus transportation.

School Says - Cost Aid
Tuition for full-time undergraduate students varies according to the chosen major program of study. Tuition for graduate students is charged per credit hour based on the student's admission status. Room and board costs depend on the type of residence and meal plan chosen by the student.

As such, the university offers a variety of institutional grant, scholarship and incentive opportunities, low-interest federal loan programs, and flexible, smart payment options to all qualified applicants. The Office of Financial Aid works closely with all students to help them find the best way to finance their education.

Most of Florida Tech's full-time Melbourne campus undergraduate students receive some type of financial assistance. Prospective undergraduate students are advised to apply for admission by Feb. 1 for priority consideration for Florida Tech scholarships worth up to $18,000 annually. They are also encouraged to visit campus to earn a four-year Campus Visit Grant worth a total of $4,000.
