Students Say - Academics
"Whitworth University offers "a solid liberal arts education" "in a spectacular setting," "a very personable environment," and "a strong emphasis on Christian beliefs." "Whitworth's motto is ‘Education of the Mind and Heart,' and that is what I've gotten," claims a junior. Excellent majors include theology, athletic training, and theater. "Small classes" range from "generally challenging" to "incredibly stimulating." A one-month January term features "amazing opportunities to travel abroad." Some facilities "could be revamped," though most academic facilities have been remodeled within the past five years. Whitworth's "very approachable" professors are "amazing individuals who are here to teach." "Their passion is contagious" and they "really invest in relationships with the students." "It's kind of weird to have a professor call my cell phone because she heard I was having trouble using statistical software," admits one student. The "upbeat and enthusiastic" administration runs the campus "with few glitches." The "amazing" school president "is probably one of the coolest guys ever" and "is frequently seen around campus or in the cafeteria mingling with students.""

Students Say - Campus Life
""The food could be better," but there is a "caring and home-like atmosphere" on this "intimate campus." "It's next to impossible to just blend into the crowd." "Religion and spirituality are huge." "Students meet for Bible studies over coffee, and it's not uncommon to hear students discussing religion or praying together." Dorm life is "a blast." "Every night" and "in each dorm building," "Activities range from finger painting to ballroom dancing to obstacle courses." On another night, students turn "jeans into designer jeans." Students also "find crazy things to do on campus." There are "plenty of pranks" and "all-nighters." "Sporting events are extremely popular," "Intramural sports are a big thing," and, in particular, "Frisbee is a huge deal." "It is everything," proclaims one senior. "Ultimate Frisbee, Frisbee golf," and the list goes on: "skiing," "snowshoeing," and "ice skating" are common winter pastimes. Students can be found "rock climbing" and "cliff jumping" in warmer months. Whitworth is "definitely not a party school," though. There is no Greek system. "There is drinking off campus but it is not a huge part of the school culture at all.""

Students Say - Student Body
""The typical student here is someone who enjoys college life without hard partying." The Christ-centered student body is "super friendly, polite, hardworking, career driven, [and] pretty into Jesus." They are "athletic" and "outdoorsy." Students "mostly come from the same well-to-do socioeconomic background." "Whitworth could use some real student body diversity." As one student acknowledges, "Eastern Washington is very nondiverse, and the campus reflects that." However, there is "a large Hawaiian population," and "There seems to be somewhat of a gay community although they are ostracized sometimes." Thanks to "the arrival of the Act Six program," which helps faith-based colleges attract students from urban areas, "The campus has seen more students of color." "As a minority, I feel very welcome and accepted," declares a first-year student. "I can easily move from group to group without feeling uncomfortable.""
