School Says - Student Body
In addition to fraternities, sororities, clubs, and organizations Ââ€" many of which are affiliated with national and professional organizations
Ââ€" Penn College offers 15 intercollegiate athletic teams and various club sports and intramural sport activities.

Matthew Grimminger, Heavy Construction Equipment, explains that getting involved outside of classes is very important. He says, "It's real important to me to be involved with your friends and getting out to play some sports Â… It lets you relax and relieves stress so you can keep up with the school work and enjoy it both at the same time."

School Says - Academics
Classrooms and laboratories offer extensive "hands-on" experiences that prepare graduates for success in the workplace. Applied technology in each major gives students the opportunity to learn the most current advances in their fields of study. To ensure an ever-present connection to the workforce, business, and industry, advisers provide guidance on matters of curriculum, facilities, and equipment.

Small classes (1:20 faculty-to-student ratio) Ââ€" and no graduate assistants teaching classes Ââ€" mean students have access to faculty. "The interactions and the relationships that the students build with the faculty here is just unbelievable," says Jennifer Fritz, Physician Assistant. She goes on to say that the bonds she has with her instructors have "done a world of good for my education."

Â"The faculty in my major are amazing. They are a huge wealth of knowledge because all of them have worked out in some type of manufacturing field before they started working at the college,Â" says Timothy Senavaitis, Manufacturing Engineering Technology. Â"This is important because I donÂ't know how it is in the real world and somebody teaching me from experience is extremely valuable.Â"

For those who need alternatives beyond the traditional, on-campus programs of study, Penn College also offers a variety of courses and bachelor-degree completion programs via distance learning. Bachelor's degrees that can be completed through distance learning include: Applied Health Studies, Automotive Technology Management, Dental Hygiene, Health Information Management, Nursing, and Technology Management.

Taking courses online made it possible for Crista Dailey, Technology Management, to earn her degree while working full time and raising a family. She says that Â"it provided me with the flexibility I needed to complete my education.Â"

Bachelor-degree, associate-degree, and certificate majors combine hands-on experience with theory and management education. Among the majors with the most students enrolled in Fall 2009 were Nursing, Building Construction, Residential Construction Technology & Management, Construction Management, and Information Technology.

For those who are undecided or have specific career goals not addressed in other programs, Penn College offers associate-degree General Studies and Individual Studies majors. For those undecided about a career or college major, counseling and career services are available.

School Says - Campus Life
The main campus is located in Williamsport (Northcentral Pennsylvania) Ââ€" no more than a four-hour drive from major cities including Philadelphia, New York, Pittsburgh, and Washington, D.C.

Air service is provided at the Williamsport Regional Airport.

In addition to the main campus, the College operates an aviation facility at the regional airport and nearby centers for the earth sciences and advanced automotive technologies.

Students benefit from internships, work-based, and other experiences outside of the classroom. For many, these experiences are the first step toward a full-time job after graduation. "I fit right in at my internship and was able to learn a lot of things about the accounting field," says JoAnna Prusak, Accounting. "Also, after my internship was done they offered me a full-time position which I gladly accepted." JoAnna also was a Volunteer Income Tax Assistant for two years. She states, "In the two years that I have participated in the VITA program, there have been a number of different people that I have helped out, some of which have been difficult. Dealing with these people has been a useful and real world experience of what I will run into in the future."

School Says - Cost Aid
In 2009-10, Pennsylvania residents attending Penn College paid approximately $21,530 per year and out-of-state residents, approximately $24,680 per year. These estimated costs are based upon tuition and fees for an average 15 credits per semester, plus estimated expenses for housing, meals, books, and supplies.
