Founded in 1845, Limestone is a fully accredited, private, coeducational liberal arts college. The College maintains a small student body and a well-qualified faculty in order to create an atmosphere in which each student develops intellectually, physically, and socially. The College endeavors to help students prepare for a satisfying, useful life through effective communication skills, responsible decision-making abilities, meaningful leisure-time activities, and lifelong aspirations. In addition to its programs on campus, Limestone offers several of its academic majors in an accelerated format called The Extended Campus. Extracurricular activities play a vital part in the development of all students at Limestone College. Among these activities are intercollegiate athletics in baseball, basketball, cross-country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, volleyball, and wrestling. Music and theater programs are also available. The 115-acre Limestone campus is well laid out for pleasant college living. The classrooms, library, laboratories, auditorium, bookstore, post office, and administrative offices are housed in buildings that border the central and circular drives, making each easily accessible to the others. The back campus has a plaza of four dormitories, and a dining hall is located nearby. The Timken LYFE Center is a physical education complex that houses the gymnasium, and an AAU-size swimming pool. The Limestone Physical Education Center houses the athletic training education program, a fitness center, and a wrestling practice area. The College also has eight-lighted tennis courts, a baseball field, a softball field, a soccer/lacrosse field, and several practice fields.

School Says - Academics
The course of study leading to the B.A., B.S., B.S.W., or A.A. degree consists of four elements: requirements in communication and quantitative skills; a general liberal arts program, involving five different subject groups; courses in the major; and appropriate electives. The baccalaureate degree programs require the completion of a minimum of 123 semester hours. The associate degree programs require the completion of a minimum of 62 semester hours. Advanced placement and credit are given for scores of 3 or higher on the Advanced Placement examinations of the College Board. An Honors Program involving special courses, seminars, and lectures is available for exceptional students. Admission to this program is contingent upon outstanding high school grades and scores on the SAT I of the College Board, the completion of a special application, and an interview. Almost 10 percent of all Limestone students are enrolled in this rigorous academic program. A Program for Alternative Learning Styles (PALS) is available for qualified students with certified learning disabilities. The Developmental Studies Program recognizes that some students have special needs in such areas as reading, writing, and mathematics. For this reason, a number of courses are offered to help students improve his/her basic skills.

School Says - Admissions
Limestone College does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, national origin, financial need, or physical handicap. Each candidate for admission is evaluated as an individual. The College recommends that applicants have the following high school preparation: English, 4 units; social science, 3 units; mathematics, 3 units; and science, 2 units. Applicants must submit an official transcript of the secondary school record, scores on the SAT I, and a nonrefundable $25 application fee. The application fee is waived if the student applies online at www.limestone.edu. Transfer applications are encouraged. Completed application forms for admission and for financial aid should be sent to the Office of Admissions at Limestone College. It is recommended that applications be submitted by May 1. Any admission applications received after that date are considered on a space-available basis. The College practices a rolling admissions policy. As soon as the application, high school transcript, and test scores have been received, the applicant is notified of his or her status. Upon acceptance, a student is required to submit a $100 tuition deposit.

Limestone College is located in the Piedmont region of South Carolina in the city of Gaffney. Rich in culture and tradition, Gaffney, a city of 25,000 people, is a beautiful place, picturesque with its historic homes and large trees. Gaffney has numerous restaurants, grocery stores and discount shopping such as Prime Outlets, an outlet shopping mall with more than 80 stores. Whereas the distractions associated with a large city are absent from daily life, the cultural programs and services offered in Charlotte, North Carolina and Spartanburg/Greenville, South Carolina are all within a 50-mile radius of the campus. Interstate 85 connects all to Gaffney.

School Says - Cost Aid
The direct cost for a student at Limestone College for the 2008-09 school year is $23,700; the tuition is 17,300, and room and board costs are $6,400.Limestone College, one of the least costly private colleges in South Carolina, endeavors to meet the financial need of any qualified student through scholarships, grants, loans, work-study opportunities, or a combination of these. Limestone offers merit scholarships to students with outstanding academic, leadership, or athletic abilities as well as to those who have exceptional talents in such areas as art, music, and theater. More than 90 percent of Limestone College day students receive some type of financial aid. Because institutional financial aid is limited, students are urged to submit their applications for admission and financial aid as early as possible.
