A New Franchise Wants You to Get Excited About the Latest Health-Food Craze
Goodbye quinoa. Move over kale. The king of the next superfood mania is açaí, a small, reddish-purple berry that apparently is rich with antioxidants and other health benefits.
Founded in 2016, a company called Frutta Bowls aims to capitalize on this latest food craze. Its menu includes a wide variety of açaí bowls—basically an açaí smoothie in a bowl, topped with different toppings like oatmeal, fruit or peanut butter—kale bowls, oatmeal bowls and smoothies. Depending on the toppings, these bowls range from relatively healthy to somewhat indulgent.
Riding açaí’s popularity, Frutta Bowls says it already has 70 franchise locations opening this year. “The best thing about being a franchisee is that they get everything: they’re getting the recipes, they’re getting the menu. Everything’s built for them,” Frutta Bowls founder and CEO Brooke Gagliano says. “If they believe in the product and really love what they’re selling to the customers, they’re going to have a great experience.”
New Frutta Bowls franchisees can expect to pay an initial franchise fee of $20,000 (per location), as well as a 6 percent royalty fee and a 1 percent marketing fee.
