If happiness is the goal – and it should be – then adventure should be a top priority. - Richard Branson

Just the other day I was speaking to a client, an entrepreneur, whose startup has recently become a Unicorn - his company is now worth a couple of billion dollars and lots of investors are backing him.

Yet, evenin the middle of all thiseuphoric action, he didn't look happy and I could sense hisstress and anxiety. Uponinquiring, I understood what he was suffering from.

A lot of hungry entrepreneurs, athletes and high performers suffer from this – he had been sucked into a daily roller coaster ride and had no time to rejuvenate. He had lost real passion in the grind of life.

He was in a stress pool, which is like a mental cesspool!

I told him to turn off his mobile, disconnect from his email and the internet and take a one week holiday with his family - to forget about everythingelse and simply laugh and have fun.

At first he resisted, arguing how it is not possible for him to turn off his mobile and be away from email for an entire week! Surely I had lost my marbles to even make such a suggestion!

But I told him how the world's richest, sexiest and happiest people are the ones who have complete control over their time and money affords them the luxury to take time off. They are not slaves to their phone or email.

Look at Richard Branson, he is a true practitioner of the happionaire philosophy of leading a fun filled life. Can you imagine him in his hot air balloon sending emails?

Here's why it is so important for every entrepreneur, employee and human being to take a holiday:

1. Fun

When I have fun, I learn more. I grow more. I laugh more. All these things are extremely important for a fuller life. We, as human beings, are not machines or robots who are only meant to work.

When you have fun, it eventually reflects in your workas well. Employees and customers love being around someone who is a fun person. Look at the world's most successful brands – they are all about fun. I go to Starbucks for a coffee because I love the way their employees send out a happy and fun vibe.

2. Health

A holiday is great for health. It helps you relax and rejuvenate. I love going to the jungles, the mountains or the beach. These are places where my mind, body and soul all get a complete recharge.

The healthier you feel, the better you live and the better you perform. Imagine how terrible work would be if you had all the professional success but a chronic backache?

Health, happiness and confidence are some of the most sexy and attractive qualities.

3. Creative

Some of the best ideas have come to me during holidays. In fact, Newton discovered gravity because he was sitting under an apple tree, unwinding and relaxing. He didn't do it in an office conference room now, did he?

In another case, two guys were on a holiday to Paris, where they got stuck in snow and couldn't find a taxi. This inspired them to create Uber and make billions of dollarsin the process.

Imagine if they had never been to Paris on that holiday? Life would have been so different. That holiday meant billions of dollars, as well as a great solution to the way people commute.

4. Family and Friends

Holidays a great time to reconnect with family and friends. It is also a beautiful way to meet new people and discover this wonderful Universe we are a part of. Many people who come to me for my expertise have all the money in the world, but still aren't content because they haveno connection with their family and friends. They feel empty and lost and search for a more fulfilled life.

A regular holiday is a great way to make sure you are connected to the people who matter the most and bring real joyin to your life.

5. Vast Network and Knowledge

People on the top have a vast network all over the world. A holiday helps us explore new countriesand cultures, meet new people andexpand our knowledge. The more I travel, the more people I meet, the more I realize how similar weall are as human beings.

We all want the same things. We all want love and happiness. Money, success, looking good and fame are all means to get love and happiness.

And after all, entrepreneurship is a journey, not the destination. Enjoy the ride!

Oh, and the entrepreneur I was speaking about, did disconnect and take that holiday and made some incredible discoveries on his trip.

I have asked him to make it compulsory for all his employees too!

You too go ahead and take that holiday, and make sure you tell me how you felt after it!
