Fundbox, a provider of embedded capital infrastructure for small businesses, has expanded into Australia, bringing its technology, underwriting, and funding capabilities to platforms serving Australian small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).
As part of its market entry, Fundbox is supporting the launch of digital, embedded capital products for platforms operating in Australia, enabling SMBs to access financing directly through the tools they already use. The company's white-label, plug-and-play model allows platforms to offer financing without building their own lending or capital infrastructure.
Fundbox's expansion is supported by a warehouse facility of up to A$100 million, provided by funds managed by MA Financial Group, a global alternative asset manager. The facility strengthens Fundbox's capacity to deliver integrated working-capital solutions and contributes to the company's more than US$2 billion in annual global funding capacity.
Founded in 2013, Fundbox has enabled more than 170,000 small businesses in the United States to access over US$6 billion in financing. Its entry into Australia extends this operating model to a market where SMBs play a central role in the economy.
"Expanding into Australia is an important step in our strategy to support platforms that serve small businesses globally," said Prashant Fuloria, Chief Executive Officer of Fundbox. "Platforms can now launch embedded capital products in Australia with a streamlined, compliant approach, while businesses benefit from faster and more integrated access to funding."
Guy Kaufman, Executive Director in MA Financial's Global Credit Solutions team, said the partnership supports the growth of embedded finance in Australia. "Fundbox has developed a scalable platform, and this facility supports its expansion into the Australian market through a tailored asset-backed structure."
Impact on the Australian SMB ecosystem
- Digital access to capital: SMBs can obtain financing directly through payment, commerce, or software platforms.
- Reduced barriers for platforms: Providers can offer lending products without developing underwriting or funding capabilities in-house.
- Institutional capital participation: The structure creates a channel for asset managers to deploy capital into the Australian SMB sector.
Fundbox's launch in Australia reflects its broader strategy to serve as infrastructure for platforms seeking to embed financial products into their services.
