VinFast announced its entry into Indonesia's e-scooter market through the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with local dealers, marking the expansion of its electric two-wheeler business into the country.
VinFast signed MoUs with K3, Citra Abadi Sedaya, PT Bevos Auto Mandiri, PT Sapta Jaya, MotorArt, PT Sinergies Dua Kawan, and PT HINU. The partners operate in automobile and motorcycle distribution and will support the rollout of VinFast's e-scooter network in Indonesia.
The company will begin deploying its distribution network in the Jabodetabek area in the second quarter of 2026, with plans to expand to other regions.
VinFast plans to introduce battery-swapping e-scooter models including VinFast Evo, VinFast Feliz II, VinFast Flazz, and VinFast Viper, along with additional models to be launched later. The models are designed for urban commuting conditions in Indonesia.
In 2026, VinFast aims to expand to hundreds of authorized dealerships and service workshops across the country. Its strategy in Indonesia includes retail and after-sales networks, financing solutions, and charging and battery-swapping infrastructure in cooperation with V-Green, as well as partnerships with financial institutions.
Prior to entering Indonesia, VinFast announced plans to expand its electric two-wheeler business internationally and signed dealer agreements in the Philippines. In 2026, the company plans expansion across five markets: the Philippines, Indonesia, India, Thailand, and Malaysia.
Ms. Vo Thi Cam Tu, Managing Director of VinFast E-Scooters Overseas Market, said Indonesia is a key market in the company's expansion strategy and that VinFast will work with local partners to introduce its battery-swapping model and product lineup to consumers.
Indonesia is one of the largest motorcycle markets globally. VinFast stated that urban mobility demand and policy support for electric vehicles provide opportunities for growth in the e-scooter segment.
VinFast has operated in Indonesia for two years, introducing electric vehicle models and commencing operations at its Subang facility. The company has also expanded its dealership and after-sales network, charging infrastructure in cooperation with V-Green, and partnerships with banks and financial institutions.
