In yet another indication of its support for entrepreneurs in the UAE, Dubai Startup Hub hosted a majlis session in February at the headquarters of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which saw six UAE-based startups present their enterprises to H.E. Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment.

At the event, which also had in attendance H.E. Majid Al Shamsi, 1st Vice Chairman, Dubai Chamber, H.E. Hamad Buamim, President & CEO, Dubai Chamber, and others, the entrepreneurs behind the startups (Tayar | WaveX, Pure Harvest, Astron, EcoSound, Junkbot, and Smart Sensor Devices) explained how their enterprises are enabling innovation in and contributing to the UAE's sustainability goals.

Besides sharing his insights with the entrepreneurs, H.E. Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi reiterated his and his ministry's commitment to help their enterprises grow and thrive. In a statement, the Minister said: "Innovation and technology generate a wide range of socio-economic values and create jobs, and therefore, innovation is at the heart of our development agenda to drive our economic diversification objectives."

In his address to the gathering, H.E. Al Shamsi also noted that the UAE startup community can play a major role in contributing towards the country's sustainability vision, by developing innovative business ideas and solutions that can reshape the future and add value to society. This, he noted, explains why Dubai Chamber has made entrepreneurs, startups, and SMEs are a key focus of Dubai Chamber's 2017-2021 strategy.
