Amazon Announces Startups Participating in its Alexa Accelerator Program Plus, a 3D printing startup raises $115 million and a visual search engine closes $8 million in funding.

Amazon's Alexa Accelerator announced which companies made the cut for its 13-week startup program. Amazon's $100-million Alexa Fund partnered up with TechStars to create the Alexa Accelerator, a program that supports entrepreneurs and early-stage startups advancing voice-power technologies. Participants will receive an investment from TechStars and the Alexa Fund as well as mentorship from Amazon team members.

Desktop Metal, a 3D printing startup company raised $115 million in a series D round led by New Enterprise Associates. The unicorn company is valued at over $1 billion with a long list of impressive investors. The latest round of funding will enable the company to grow globally.

Syte.Ai, a leading visual search engine that makes images shoppable, closed a series A round of $8 million. Gone are the days of searching the internet for the skirt Katy Perry wore on her recent vacation.
