Blue Cloud Softech Solutions Ltd. (BCSSL) has announced a strategic plan to invest up to USD 1 billion, in a phased manner, to build an AI-native data centre and digital cloud infrastructure platform across India.

The company said the proposed programme is aimed at creating a nationwide backbone to support growing demand for AI, cloud computing and mission-critical digital services.

According to the company, the investment could lead to the development of up to 800 MW of data centre capacity over multiple phases, placing BCSSL among the larger players in India's digital infrastructure space. The initiative is expected to support sectors such as enterprise digitisation, scientific research, and national digital and security requirements.

The company said the proposed infrastructure will focus on hyperscale, edge and AI-optimised data centres in major cities as well as emerging technology corridors. It also plans to deploy AI-native cloud platforms designed for machine learning workloads, large language models and real-time analytics, along with high-density high-performance computing and GPU clusters.

BCSSL stated that its approach differs from conventional data centres in India, which are largely focused on colocation services. The planned facilities are expected to use AI-orchestrated systems for workload management, predictive maintenance and energy optimisation.

The company also highlighted plans for higher rack densities, advanced cooling technologies and sovereign-by-design architectures that are intended to meet data residency and compliance requirements.

As part of the roadmap, the company is considering tier III and tier IV certified facilities with modular expansion, renewable energy integration, energy storage systems and high-capacity fibre connectivity. The first phase of development is expected to begin in FY 2026, subject to regulatory approvals, with capacity expansion aligned to demand over the long term.

The proposed platform is designed to cater to a wide range of users, including enterprises, MSMEs, e-commerce platforms, government and strategic institutions, as well as educational and research organisations. BCSSL said it is also exploring sovereign and air-gapped environments for defence, space and national research use cases.

Janaki Yarlagadda, Chairman of BCSSL, said, "This long-term investment plan underscores our unwavering commitment to developing intelligent, sovereign, and future-ready digital infrastructure for India." She added that the phased approach and AI-native design aim to "align with national strategic priorities while delivering sustainable value to stakeholders."

Founded in 1991, BCSSL operates across multiple geographies, including India, the US, the UK and parts of the Asia-Pacific region, and provides AI-driven enterprise, cybersecurity and connectivity solutions.
