Battery technology startup e-TRNL Energy has raised INR 27.4 crore in a seed funding round led by IAN Alpha Fund.
The round also saw participation from Navam Capital and Anicut Capital, along with continued backing from Speciale Invest, Micelio Mobility, and IIMA Ventures. Angel investors, including Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain, also joined the round.
The startup said the funds will be used to complete product development, validate performance and safety standards, and demonstrate manufacturing capability within India.
Founded in 2021 by Apoorv Shaligram and Uttam Kumar Sen, e-TRNL Energy is developing next-generation battery cells using a chemistry-agnostic, physics-based approach. The technology aims to improve safety, fast-charging capability, cycle life, and energy density while supporting reliable and scalable manufacturing.
The startup operates a 20,000 sq. ft. research and early manufacturing facility in Bengaluru. It has secured two patents and filed additional applications.
e-TRNL plans to establish a 250 MWh pilot manufacturing facility by 2027 and later scale capacity to 2 GWh. Its first product will use LFP chemistry, with future work planned on LMFP and sodium-ion battery technologies.
